Burton L. Mack, Who Wrote the New Testament? The Making of the Christian Myth [Dr. Mack, professor of early Christianity at the School of Theology at Claremont]
The assignment of names and the arrangement of the New Testament writings are misleading.
Scholars agree…most of the writings of the New Testament were either written anonymously and later assigned to a person of the past or written later as a pseudonym for some person thought to have been important for the earliest period. Striking examples of the latter are the two letters said to have been written by Peter, both of which are clearly second-century creations.
